Kid Packs
When a new foster child is placed with a foster family, they come with nothing. Straight From the Heart has new items such as clothes, pajamas, socks, underwear, diapers, school supplies, toiletries, formula, blankets, backpacks, toys and much, much, more. We give these items which are donated from the community to the children at no cost to the family. We are aware of the lack of funding available for foster children and do all that we can to help support foster families. We also provide new toys for birthdays and have a Christmas Toy Drive in the month of December for all foster children. We are dependent on the generosity of the community to provide these items to our foster children.
Information regarding court and legal rights
We can assist you in preparing the Caregiver in the Court Form, the De Facto Application and the Prospective Adoptive Parent Forms.
Assistance in working within the system
The Child Welfare System can be overwhelming, especially to a new foster parent. We can help you learn to navigate your way through the system.
Referrals for physical and mental health resources
Foster children can have many physical and mental needs and obtaining care for them can be challenging. We will assist you in finding the appropriate providers.
Scholarship and Enrichment Fund for foster children
We offer a one time stipend for enrichment or extra-curricular activities for foster children or college fees.
CPR/First Aid
We offer free CPR and First Aid to all foster parents and their respite providers in our training center.
Training and Support Groups
We offer on-going training and workshops for foster/adoptive parents to fulfill the 8 training hours per year as mandated by state law. This includes training for drug and alcohol exposed infants, attatchment problems, abuse issues, behavior problems and caring for medically fragile children.
Support groups meet at Straight From The Heart in one of our two training rooms and provide help and support to each other.
Christmas Toy Drive/Christmas Party
We provide foster children with free Christmas toys, which are generously donated from community organizations.
We co-sponsor a yearly Holiday Party and Spring Picnic for foster children and their foster families.
