Straight From The Heart was honored to be the recipient of the
2006 Grand Service Project.
Each year the Rainbow Girls pick one charity in the state and direct all their fundraising activities for that year towards helping a non-profit organization. We were not prepared for the whirlwind of activity and the incredible organization and energy of these girls when we met last year. We were so grateful for their help and were planning on maybe $10,000-$15,000 dollars as a result of their year of fundraisisng and we would have been absolutely thrilled with that amount. There are no words to describe our joy and amazment when we were presented with our check for $74,089.08! We also were given over $30,000 in new items for our Kid Packs for newly placed foster children.
Many of the Rainbow Girls came from all over the state of California and gave hours and hours of service at Straight from The Heart Resource Center. We are forever in debt to the kindness, hard work, talent and love shown by these wonderful girls, their leaders and their parents.
We especially thank Shannyn Allan, Grand Worthy Advisor 2006 for choosing our charity and for all the time and effort she dedicated on our behalf. We love you Shannyn! A special thanks to Diane Jackson, a wonderful San Diego County foster mom who led Shannyn to us!
We cannot forget Vicky Garcia and her tireless help in bringing new items to SFTH from all over the state. If you see a white van loaded to the brim with donations for foster children, it's probably her!
The work of these special girls will impact the future of Straight From The Heart and literally allow us to keep our doors open to continue serving the foster children and foster families of San Diego County.
The Rainbow Girls will always have a place in our Heart!
